Artist of the Month – Donna Dowdney
As a fabric and mixed-media artist, Donna Dowdney creates designs with acrylics on canvas and then prints them on fabric. She captures the energy of the design with bold, saturated colors and uses beads, mirrors, ribbons, and threads to add sparkle, color, and movement.
The recent discoveries from the James Webb Space Telescope opened Donna’s eyes to the artistic beauty of the galaxies. Donna stated, “I have been designing with spirals since I began creating art. Now I see how my designs relate to the art of the universe. Nature’s dance of life inspires my art, as my designs encircle, spiral, branch, and wander.”
A reception for the Donna is set for 4 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, May 8th at the bank and 5 to 6 p.m. at Port Ludlow Art League gallery. The bank and gallery are located at 9500 Oak Bay Road in Port Ludlow.
